The slick artist
Who painted my dreams,
Coloured my vision,
Decorated his intentions,
Papered over the cracks
Of his little sick schemes.
He has stripped me
Bare of my ego,
Left my heart bare of trust,
And scraped the hope
From my soul
As my dreams turned to dust.
Yet I still love him,
My faux painter,
My forger, my faker
And I gloss over his faults,
For he is etched deep in my psyche,
My handsome heart breaker.

So true.
I think all of us have had one in our lives, at one time or another.
Thank you so much for the visit :)
I really like this. Nicely done, I think we all recognise someone we have known in your words. ;-)
i know this...one we should not love but do, so deeply etched they are...nice evocative write...
Intense ... I knew one of these painters.
Rather to love a painter than not to love at all. Bittersweet.
You have sustained your metaphor admiirably throughout the poem. Very good.
Good work. Thank you.
Hey! Hey! This is my favourite so far! I just love the lines:
"My faux painter,
My forger, my faker
And I gloss over his faults".
I've used a little pot of gloss, too!
Yes have known one of these! nicely done,
thanks for visiting.
Very nice. That faux painter!
This is my first time here. Love this. Reminiscent of mine I think. Etched in your psyche...indeed. Hard to get them out of there once they have been etched. It's not like you can erase an etching or scrape it away. That is such a powerful word, isn't it...etch! Thanks for visiting.
That someone believing in her man's ability and appreciating it is an inspiration to us menfolk.
Nice composition!
I think I married (and divorced) him! :)
Thanks for your kind comments folks.
I guess most of us have known a painter at some time in our lives - memories!

He is just a lesson, I don't know it's # but he comes into every girls heart, at least once! It is wise not to forget.
I like what you did with your paint!
Thanks annell.

excellent lyrical flow - very readable and cool take on the theme/photo
You love him still. How sad.
But your poem is good.
From start to finish I was hooked! Great flow to your poem.
Anna,
Nice, indeed. People do touch our lives.
They make our lives, too.

Friko ~ I think men are wonderful things, love them - well most of them!
Trulyfool ~ love your writing! Without the wonderful Magpie - would never have found you. Thanks Magpie!

Good poetry from any way you look.
Now the painter is gone, perhaps a musician? Haha!
Thanks Stafford.
