Metamorphosis

artwork by Ulrike Bolenz

Innocence,
tis such a childish thing,
so I metamorphasise,
bare naked soul neath dragon wing,
take flight o’er starry-eyed naivety,
seek error of enlightenment.

I absorb you,
all flesh and skin and bone of you,
become a shadow of yourself.

I live and breathe you,
consume your very being,
consume myself
til completely lost,
lost in love of love of you.

Anna :o]

"bare naked soul neath dragon wing,
take flight o’er starry-eyed naivety,"

There is such pain and loss in love. The contrast is so striking when love is all-consuming, and that's probably one of the strongest metamorphosis a human can go through..

'seek error of enlightenment' ~ this line made me pondering...I'd not labeled it this way...we are where we suppose to be with our next lesson to master and learn new ways of moving forward...innocence - wonderful skill to approach spirituality without judgement, I think....Please, take care, don't forget to breath and smile too :)x

Captivating and a bit confusing ~ "error of enlightenment" made me stumble. To me it expresses now love's blindness. (Although love is not always blind I think.)

Hauntingly beautiful.

Am I being sinister here - I detect a rather threatening undercurrent there - or maybe just a hint of darkness...

We, of course, as poets, hope to retain some "innocence" for our inner child, to heighten our sense of wonder, deepen our response to injustice, rail against the damn 1%, & yet Love slips in boldly, quietly to color outside the lines,

Innocence and yet, so sensual, being consumed, becoming a shadow - such closeness and bonding in that love. Just gorgeous. Hayes Spencer is Kanzensakura

Very sensual--going from innocence to consumation. Beautifully written.

Couldn't help but think of Kafka's weird short story--but you've taken the metaphor to a lovely height.

The changes we make in the name of love are the best... especially when the love is for self.

I like 'love of love of you'. Yeah, somehow that's not as innocent as simple love.

As with so many in agreement, that truly is a killer last line!
