Affair

Night chills sun-sweltered day
as
He nibbles at her, softens her.
[Her back arches at the want of him]

Elsewhere, he    [the cuckold]
explodes within without;
rage heightens senses hammers fists.
owl hoots, waits til
[He hears soft click of closing door]
sensing prey
he swoops...
Upon her then he is;
scoops her up twixt threat and thunder,
throat becomes a place to hold her,
hold her til her breath is done.
[Adoration/animus]

Anna :o]

Oh Anna this really chills.. the affair and the consequences.. there are always reasons but I just wish it wouldn't have to be that way.. intriguing form you have used.

Wow, a whole crime novella within a few powerful Noir verses; FLIGHT OF THE CUCKOLD might be another title option. The piece is dark & delicious. As a literary unfaithful bitch, she got what she deserved; but as a literal motif, the prospect abhors & frightens me, for the scenario is acted out too often on the nightly news.

This is the stuff of nightmare, Anna. I can sense his rage, which seems to take her MUCH by surprise.

Romantic love is an illusion. Most of us discover this truth at the end of a love affair or else when the sweet emotions of love lead us into marriage and then turn down their flames.

~Thomas Moore

Powerful words.

Sure is a nasty thing to do to a lady. Gets to be frightful given such situations.

Oh so dark! You really draw the reader along in this, and the mixture of bold and light, and italics and non-italicized really adds to the tension

Those last lines Wow. The optimist in me wanted this to be sexual asphyxiation over simple asphyxiation (as if that were something simple!). This whole thing is taunt with well strung emotion. You feel -snap!

Some nightmares are created and controlled by individuals. Consequence has a price.

Damn! Some awe full revenge and sacrifice is going on here. I'm afraid the female figure is the worse for wear--Grand Guignol at its finest.

When I began reading I fought at first it was HER catching HIM in an affair. The poem was interesting and also pretty dark. It struck me particularly because my friend was recently killed by her husband though I do not believe it was a crime of passion as in your poem. This is why we write, Anna, to evoke emotion, idea, et al. It's also why we read.

And I am surprised how you unfolded the scene so vividly in so less words ... hats off to you :-)
