One Night Stand

One Night Stand

An elaborate ritual,
You dance behind
My shower screen.

Intimately connected,
I watch
As you wash away
The memory of me.

Cleansed,
You leave,
Passing me
Without recognition.

Washing away memories ... hard to do. Though in this instance, it was easy. Leaving behind all that pain. Beautifully written.

Is that part of the dream?
Whatever, it's another good one.
I really like your poetry. I've said it before, I don't say that very often.

I wish I could do that.

I like the way the title fills us in allowing you to keep the poem taut. A very restrained piece.

Thank you for your kind comments folks!

I can't remember what random click clicks led me to Magpie Tales - but I am so glad they did - love this little community!

Having just finished a run of night shifts - I shall continue to read the many Magpies yet unread. Hopefully, a little more refreshed I will be able to leave comments more original than those already left while viewing the world through a fuzzy brain.

Friko: Not a dream dear friend - never stay asleep long enough to reach the point where I may be rejected! Damn!

Thingy: I just love your name, things and thingy being very regular visitors to my vocabulary!

lovely in its sadness -- a sigh of a poem

This evokes a sadness for sure. The art of thing is how beautifully and succinctly the stage is set and the mood created. Very well done! Vb
