Small Print

Look at the small print,
look at it just look at it.
No need to read
between the lines,
it is there in black and white.

Addendum to diary entry:
I love him I love him I love him!

I am so tiny tiny tiny

Why can’t I think big?
Why can’t I say:
I love you I love you I love you.

I am so tiny tiny tiny.

Oh if only I could sprout
the wings of a bird
I would fly to him,
fly to him
and gather him in my skirts.

Say: See here,
look at the small print:
I love him I love him I love him!

Instead:  I am tiny tiny tiny.

I have the wings of a moth
forever searching for the moon…

So much to think about in this poem, Anna. And so many beautiful phrases. I love "I have the wigs of a moth forever searching for the moon," but I am thinking as well about the feeling tiny instead of feeling big.

fear of thinking, acting being big has halted so many worthy actions

Even small print can hold its volume when one feels tiny in a big world.
Some meaningful thoughts wrapped in
tiny print.

Interesting and thought-provoking combination of intense love and feeling of inferiority. I enjoyed the small print metaphor!

Wonderful poem, and I loved the way it said so much without saying it directly.

hey :)

a neat coming together of concepts, finding their own way into something opening and closing like a mouth I hear it talking but the words become a feeling making sense. best :)

Le vue d’oiseaux: Ah checkmate! Sometimes there is no pleasure in the capture as the king returns to the confines of his box, hiding amongst his subjects… :o]

I think of tiny jewelry boxes. And glass figurines. So beautiful, yet so fragile. But those words are huge. And those words can move planets. No jewelry box can hold them.

"Sometimes there is no pleasure in the capture as the king returns to the confines of his box, hiding amongst his subjects"

'King' - hides? ... in a box! And what a box too!!

I suppose in a poet's mind, or the confinement of that tiny box, anything is possible, if desired, including 'king in box' ... even celebrate it too! After all, it's your box and you do what you like inside there

... not everyone would agree though since we each have our own box and because in real life, this is a most unlikely scenario, impossible even. Because 'real' kings are 'keepers', and why they never leave for there to be a 'return' nor allow themselves to be 'kept' themselves, let alone in a box - but of course it is all in the poet's mind here

... and why the 'checkmate' to the confinement of the 'poet''s box with such scenario

L’oiseaux

Ah, the poet knows that tis just a dream and she can never really capture the king, only observe as he abdicates when danger looms - and she would not want this humiliation for him. But he has shown himself and in this unguarded state becomes vulnerable, becomes vulnerable to those who seek to undermine/unseat him and humiliated he is and returns to his box. (It is safe but lonely here.) And she is as lost and as sad as he.

And she the poet the dreamer, in her real life keeps her thoughts in her box as open expression would leave her vulnerable, open to rejection, and she seeks not humiliation. And yes you are right, in her own box she can do anything, live out her wildest dreams – and so she does and sprouts her bird wings…

Oh dear, what a mess, and it gets more complicated by the minute too - too cryptic for my simple brain to comprehend - but even with my simplicity, it does sound more like a nightmare than a dream Anna!

... and did you say you're sprouting wings?

Ok @_@ ... at least there is hope 'for you' at the end of it all, that struggle - 'Good luck' with the flight, Angel :-D

Small prints can develop into big things in a good way. But small prints in documents can spring surprises! Nicely Anna!

Small print can be a bombshell. Pull the plug and watch what happens. Tiny written words call for good eyesight. It amazes me, Anna, how you can give birth to a poem from obscure places. A magic mind.

Love this poem Anna, what a creative way at looking at life ... the small print.. wonder what we could achieve if we just wrote in bigger letters
